February 2022 Monthly Review
Valentines Day is a very popular gift giving holiday for portraits and this year, was no exception. In addition to lovely watercolor portraits of happy couples and lovely homes, I also opened up my very first round of painted bottle commissions!
House Illustrations Line Art
Line illustrations of homes and venues is the new hot item this month and maybe for the rest of the year? Seriously, these little illustrations are so great and versatile!
January 2022 Review
I painted some lovely pieces of Philbrook in partnership with The Inviting Place for some upcoming spring weddings. The Philbrook gardens are one of the best places to see tulips in late March, early April. Plus, the gardens are beautiful year round with the gorgeous architecture of the buildings, structures, and garden art surrounding the perfectly manicured gardens.
December 2021 Review
Holidays in Tulsa are upon us. It may be my favorite time of year (see the Holidays in Tulsa Map I made if you have any doubt). I had the pleasure of working with a pretty cool organization for their end of year party.
November 2021 Review
Things get a little quiet around here in November as all the paintings seem to be gifts, but I love the thoughtfulness of your custom painting ideas. Also, get ready for something new and exciting that’s coming in the new year!
October 2021 Review
There are two types of people: plan ahead and … those who don’t. October is the prep month for those early birds who are starting their holiday shopping. Which, I love, because it can take up to 3 weeks for me to complete a custom watercolor piece.
Tulsa Landmarks - Marquette Auction
An amazing inquiry came my way about creating a watercolor Tulsa landmarks piece for Marquette School's auction.
This 11x14 hand painted piece is an Alexa's Illustrations original featuring midtown and downtown favorites and icons.
Sketching Process
The first step of a custom portrait is to sketch the piece. Sounds easier than it really is. Here’s some insight to what considerations are made and behind the scenes to the process. Learn more about reference photos, the drafting and revision process, and some helpful tips for your hand painted watercolor portraits.
An Arizona Save the Date
When The Inviting Place reaches out to me, I know we're about to create an amazing custom masterpiece!
A couple getting married in front of the very impressive sequoia cacti at an amazing destination wedding needed a piece to get their guests excited about the upcoming event celebrating their love!

House Portraits: Seeing Double
An end of summer double commission came my way that I am excited to share. What started out as a painting of a friend's home, turned into a double painting of a sister home. Sister home as in it's sisters that love in the same neighborhood!
