What a perfect summer week!

It’s always a fantastic day when there is a Wed Society Oklahoma event on the calendar! Three years into membership with the Oklahoma chapter, I’ve enjoyed meeting and working with so many of the other wonderful talented vendors passionate about events. The opportunity to participate in networking events for vendors is an invaluable experience Wed Society continues to offer. As a creative that does a little bit of everything, my contributions have varied from custom painted items, invitations, signage, custom decor, event logos, and now as an industry professional panelist!

With Tulsa Botanic Garden as the backdrop, the event was a floral filled morning for networking, brainstorming, and meeting new friends (plus big hugs to friends I haven’t seen in person since the last event). As a wedding vendor whose contribution is often completed months in advance (or a year plus for Save the Date art) and whose presence is not required day of at the event, most of my contact with my fellow vendors is via messages - email, social media, a quick text. The chance to gather in a room full of magic makers to chat in person is always a favorite. A big thank you to the team of sponsors (image and IG tags below) that contributed their time and talent to making such a wonderful event.

But not only did I get to enjoy being in the room, the team at Wed Society OK asked if I would like a seat on the stage as a panelist! Alongside the sweet and talented photographer, Leslee Layton, and the event planning pro, Mary Fencl, we shared our insight and experience around how we run our business, what tech and tools we find invaluable, what traits make a fellow vendor someone we love to recommend and work with over and over, what trends we’re seeing in weddings, and so much more.

I really had a great time and was honored that Wed Society found value in featuring and learning from a more behind-the-scenes vendor. The biggest takeaway was that my art can be that super personal touch that brings an event from cookie cutter to bespoke (hello custom event branding via crests, patterns, venue & pet art) and I’m a big thinker. I told everyone Alexa’s Illustrations is your creative bestie that thinks big. Let’s take the custom art and turn it into a pattern for linens, attach it to lighting to illuminate the space with a custom design, and (from a business perspective) design a custom logo and branding hand designed by a local expert!
