Real Wedding: Take the Cake

When you have a show stopping cake, you’ll want to immortalize it. Julia at Lively Letter Co and XO Event Co took this idea of a wedding cake map and included Alexa’s Illustrations to create a beautiful drawing of the cake. Each mouthwatering layer is described on the menu for guests to appreciate and anticipate sampling.

The biggest challenge to this illustration, was that I drew the piece before the cake existed. Together with the couple and the cake expert, Ms. Laura’s Cakes, we brought the vision to life through this custom illustration. I was told the number of layers, given a sketch of loose frosting decorations, and told there would be flowers in between each layer.

It was a fun cycle of the baker giving a sketch to the artist, who drew the piece to guide the final cake.
